Responsible Tour Operator Statement

At Lupin Tours, we are committed to environmental stewardship and sustainability. Our eco-friendly practices are designed to protect wildlife, conserve habitats and preserve the natural landscape of the Falkland Islands.

conservation support

As a One Tree Planted Business Partner, we are dedicated to reforestation initiatives, furthering our commitment to offset our environmental impact. Through these proactive measures, we strive to offer visitors an eco-conscious and responsible travel experience, ensuring the preservation of the Falklands' natural beauty for generations to come.

responsible tourism

We prioritise responsible tourism by accompanying all our guests throughout our tours to ensure adherence to the Falkland Islands Countryside Code. By guiding our guests and leading by example, we aim to foster a deeper respect for the environment and local communities, preserving the Falklands' pristine landscapes for future generations to enjoy.

During our tours, our guides explain the code, highlighting key principles such as respecting wildlife and habitats, leaving no trace, keeping to designated paths and keeping a distance of at least 6m for wildlife. Additionally, we provide copies of the code to our clients, ensuring they have the resources to follow best practices during their time in camp.

By promoting awareness and understanding of the Countryside Code, we strive to foster a culture of responsible outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship among our guests.

support local

We are proud to promote locally available handicrafts and souvenirs. We believe in supporting local artisans and businesses, and our tours include showing our guests where they can discover Falkland Islands crafts and souvenirs. By promoting these local artisans, we contribute to the sustainability of the island's economy and showcase the talents of its residents.

We prioritise supporting local businesses and reducing our environmental impact where we can.

Where possible we use locally crafted signs and printed materials, including leaflets, postcards, posters and flyers. By sourcing these items locally, we help contribute to the local economy.

feedback

We value the feedback and input of our guests. We actively seek opinions and ideas by providing feedback forms on all our tours and encourage guests to contact us with feedback. Guests’ insights help us continuously improve our services and tailor our experiences to better meet their needs and expectations. We appreciate their feedback as we strive to provide exceptional and memorable journeys for every guest.

reduce, reuse, recycle

Responsible disposal of recyclable items is a priority. We ensure that food waste goes to our resident ducks, while cans, household metal waste and glass are recycled.

We celebrate local and seasonal produce by sourcing locally produced and farmed items whenever possible. We prioritise Fairtrade, vegetarian, vegan and organic options. We provide guests with vegetarian, gluten free, vegan and allergy free choices when requested.

We take steps to minimise our carbon footprint and reduce plastic waste. Our initiatives include reducing the use of plastic-packaged foodstuffs, committing to eliminating single-use plastics such as straws, cutlery, bags and cups. We also limit the availability of single-use plastic drink bottles and provide beverages in glass bottles or aluminum cans instead of plastic containers.

We believe in minimising waste and maximising sustainability. We make a conscious effort to reuse items whenever possible. For example, we repurpose glass jars for storing the coffee, sugar, tea and hot chocolate on our tours, and chocolate boxes are reused for sandwich storage, ensuring safe travel for our guests' meals. By reusing these items, we reduce our environmental footprint.

Through these efforts, we aim to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility in all aspects of our operations.
